A P Architects provided a full ‘traditional’ architectural scope of services, for the part remodel of this executive Georgian dwelling, located in the Alvechurch Conservation area.
The original Georgian dwelling had been extended a number of times comprising a Victorian extension and most recent 20th century extension.
The existing kitchen location and size has changes little from its original location and as such is too small in proration to the overall dwelling and for modern day living.
The brief was to create an open plan family room, overlooking a play area. Previous unsympathetic extensions were removed and remodelling was proposed to improve the flow of the house.

A contemporary design was favourable to contrast with the original traditional aesthetic of the existing building. A simple yet striking roof detailing geometry provide solar shading and covered area whilst adding visual articulation to the design.
Large areas of structural glazing and external timber cladding helps to create a modern and contrasting visual identity.
