Cow Hollow Hotel

Project Details

Commercial, Manchester

A P Architects were appointed by Cow Hollow Hotel to provide architectural services, from planning to construction to convert a disused Grade II listed Victorian warehouse into a 17-bed boutique hotel.

Set in Manchester’s thriving Northern Quarter and in the heart of the Stevenson Square Conservation area, the existing building is in prime location amongst several listed buildings of high architectural significance. The disused building was in a dilapidated condition but exudes character and fantastic potential to create an contemporary – chic feel by utilising original brickwork and repurposing Victorian wrought iron fixtures.

A complete multi-million pound internal remodel and external renovation was undertaken in collaboration with the design team and client stakeholders. The proposals would contribute positively to the surrounding buildings, local area and economy. A careful balance was taken to preserve any historic features, which contribute to the ‘boutique’ character. The proposals were designed to achieve a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating.

Looking to maximising the floor space, the basement was brought back into use by re-instating the original window and tanking the internal walls. The hotel is now operational and hosts exclusive parties in the lobby bar.
